UBURU, NIGERIA – The family of the late former Governor and Minister, His Excellency, Sir Dr. Christopher Ogbonnaya Onu, has held a solemn Anniversary Thanksgiving Mass and memorial rites in Uburu, Ebonyi State, to mark two years since his transition to eternal glory on April 11, 2024.
The events served as a poignant tribute to a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and statesman whose life was defined by faith, integrity, and selfless service to Nigeria.

The family gathered at Christ the King Catholic Church (CKC), Uburu, for a special Thanksgiving Mass. The service was a celebration of Dr. Onu’s enduring legacy, with prayers offered for the repose of his soul and continued strength for the family he left behind.
Visit to the Resting Place
Following the liturgical celebration, the family made a solemn visit to the final resting place of the departed patriarch. This intimate moment allowed the family to reflect on his life and the profound impact of his leadership and wisdom.
Lighting of St. Michael’s Candle
In a significant spiritual gesture, the family performed the Lighting of St. Michael’s Candle at the graveside. This act symbolized the “Perpetual Light” of Christ and invoked the protection and intercession of St. Michael the Archangel for their beloved husband and father.
A Legacy Remembered
Speaking after the ceremonies, the family expressed their deep gratitude for the continued support from friends, associates, and the general public since the passing of His Excellency, Sir Dr. Onu two years ago.
